Federalist Society MOVIE NIGHT!!

We got together and decided we wanted to watch all of those “law school movies” our classmates and professors talk about. Then we thought maybe everyone else did too. So everyone is invited! You do not have to be a member of The Federalist Society to attend, but members do get perks.

Mock Trial Bar Intrest Meeting

Please Join the Mock Trial Bar for an interest meeting on Tuesday, April 4 at 12:40. The meeting will be held in Room 138. Please bring your own lunch. All students who are interested in competing to join the mock trial bar in the fall of 2015 should plan to attend. There will be another interest meeting in the fall, but this will be the only meeting before the internal competition packet is released this summer.

Experts on dog-fighting and a puppy to love on!

Join SALDF this Wednesday at 12:40 in room 135 to hear from Sandy Senn with Senn Legal and Allen Myrick with the AG’s office.  They both have investigated countless dog fighting rings and worked to end them. SBA/Veterans in Law Golf Tournament

We are pleased to announce that the 2015 SBA/Veterans in Law Golf Tournament will be held April 10th at Hidden Valley Golf Club. All proceeds from the tournament will go to benefit Hidden Wounds, a South Carolina non-profit aimed at helping veterans cope with mental issues. The entry fee is $200 for a team of four. However, we are also looking for hole sponsors at $200 a hole, if your business has sponsored a hole then you can have a team in the tournament for $100. Reminder: SCWLA Deadline This Friday!

Each year the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association (“SCWLA”)provides a scholarship to a current 1L or 2L student for the following school year. If you are interested in applying please email Women in Law at

The SCWLA Foundation Scholarships are intended to:
1. Recognize law students who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and an aptitude for leadership and philanthropy;

2. Promote excellence in legal studies by providing assistance to deserving students; and

3. Advance the missions of both the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association and the SCWLA Foundation, which include: enhancing the welfare and development of women lawyers and supporting their interests and encouraging philanthropy by women lawyers in South Carolina for the benefit of the greater community.

One scholarship per law school is given each year, contingent on the applicant pool and scholarship funds raised by the SCWLA Foundation. Finalists will be the guests of honor at the SCWLA CLE Convention in Fall 2015. Anticipated amount of the 2015 scholarship is at least $1,500.

Scholarships are awarded to applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, leadership and philanthropic potential, and a strong commitment to the profession. Involvement in programs that advance or support women in the profession and in the community and participation in community service activities are given particular consideration.

Scholarship applications must be postmarked or e-mailed no later than March 20, 2015.

2015 BLSA Banquet

The Annual BLSA Banquet will be held at The Hall at 320 Senate Street on March 26, 2015. The event will begin with a reception at 6:00 pm, followed by the dinner and program at 7:00 pm. This year’s Banquet’s keynote speaker is The Honorable Mignon L. Clyburn, Chair of the Federal Communications Commission. Tickets are $25 for Chapter Members and $35 for general admission.
