On March 14, 2016, Women in Law and the Student Bar Association will be holding a lunch panel discussion honoring Women’s History Month. We are very excited to have Justice Jean Toal and Representative Laurie Slade Funderburk from the SC House of Representatives join us to discuss their experiences in the legal profession. This will be a moderated panel discussion, but questions will be welcome following the presentation. Lunch will be served for those that RSVP. An eventbrite will be sent out through Heather Beatty at a date closer to the presentation date calling for RSVPs.

The band will be The Vegabonds, and they will be playing from around 9 until midnight. The band is on youtube so be sure to look them up!
The event is “black tie optional” which means that it is perfectly fine if anyone wants to wear suits, short dresses, etc., instead of black tie (tuxes and long dresses). After exams, come join the SBA as we host the End of Semester Happy Hour on Friday, Dec 11, starting at 7:00 pm at Tin Roof. We will have a bar tab and Tin Roof will continue offering drink specials even after the tab runs out. Specials include: $3 draft beer (excluding Guiness), $1 off all house liquor, and $4 Gatorade shots. In order to drink off the tab, a wristband is required. Wristbands are free for SBA Members, $5 for Non-SBA Members, or free with the donation of a toy to the Salvation Army’s Toy Drive. In order to donate, please see the box outside Heather’s office and sign your name to the list of donors in Heather’s office. Wristbands will be sold and handed out at Tin Roof. If you do not wish to purchase a wristband or donate a toy, please still join us, the drink specials will still be available to you. We hope to see everyone there relaxed and blowing off steam. Until then, the best of luck on exams!

Join the Student Bar Association for our annual Monsters’ Ball October 30! The event will be held at The Cotton Gin in Five Points. Tickets include admission and alcohol. The event begins at 8:00 and ends at 12:00. We will have a DJ and a costume contest! We hope to see you there!
The Pro Bono Program has set up a Good Deed Friday for this coming Friday, Oct 16th from 1-3 at Harvest Hope Food Bank. The public has responded to the call for donations after the historic flood and now they need amazing teams of volunteers to sort, stack and pack food to distribute to those most in need. Remember HHFB serves a 20 county area plus hundreds of local agencies and organizations such as soup kitchens.
